Acne Treatment in Pune

Seborrheic Keratosis is a common, non-cancerous skin growth often seen in adults. These growths typically appear in shades of brown, black, or tan and have a waxy, scaly, or “stuck-on” appearance. Although harmless, recognizing and monitoring them is important to rule out any potential skin changes that could resemble more serious conditions.

While seborrheic keratosis is generally asymptomatic, many individuals choose to have them removed for cosmetic reasons or if the growth becomes irritated, itchy, or inflamed.

At We Heal Clinic, Pune, we offer safe and effective treatment options for seborrheic keratosis, tailored to each patient’s needs based on the size, location, and appearance of the growth.

Seborrheic keratosis develops when skin cells known as keratinocytes begin to grow excessively, resulting in benign growths on the outer layer of the skin. Unlike infections, seborrheic keratosis is not caused by fungi and is completely non-contagious.

Coconut oil does not aid in the removal or reduction of seborrheic keratosis. In most cases, no treatment is required. However, if removal is desired for cosmetic or medical reasons, a dermatologist may recommend one of the following methods:

  • Cryotherapy (freezing)

  • Electrodesiccation (drying with electric current)

  • Electrocautery (burning with heat)

  • CO2 Laser (laser removal)

Seborrheic keratosis is more commonly seen in older adults, typically emerging after the age of 40. A family history of seborrheic keratosis can also increase the risk of developing these growths.
